1 1/2 - 2 lbs thinly (1/8") sliced beef (sukiyaki beef can be bought at Uwajimaya or H Mart)
3 Tbsp sugar
1/2 C soy sauce
4 cloves garlic, diced
1 bunch green onions
1/2 tsp black pepper
2 tsp sesame oil
To cut your own beef, put it in the freezer for at least an hour until it is softly frozen. Slice it thinly. If it is too soft put it back in the freezer until it is firmer.
Mix beef and sugar in a gallon Ziploc bag. Let rest for 2 minutes. Mix soy sauce, garlic, chopped green onions, pepper and sesame oil. Add to the bag and massage this to make sure ti is mixed well. Let stand at room temperature for 1 hour or in the refrigerator overnight. Cook meat in small batches in a hot frying pan 2 - 3 minutes.
