Tater Tot Casserole - 1972 staff cook book

1 lb hamburger
1 small onion, chopped
1 10.75 oz can Cream of Celery (or mushroom) soup
1 lb package Tater tots    
Shredded cheese (optional)

Preheat oven to 350°. Brown hamburger and onion and season with salt and pepper. Stir in the soup. Pour the mixture into a 9x13 pan and layer the Tater Tots evenly on top. Sprinkle with cheese if desired. Bake for 30 - 45 minutes, until tots are golden brown and hot.
